Is the cell phone tapping capability something that's possible right now? The answer is a bit more complicated than you might expect. It is possible to eavesdrop on cells, but the reality haschanged for the past several years.
It used to be possible to do it, but only law enforcement had the equipment and the money to buy it. Then at one point there was the equipment available for all of us to do it, but it was still pretty expensive. This was in the days when almost all of us used analog cells. But now that we've switched to digital mobiles, the equipment that can intercept these calls is not available to us, and it cost about 500 000. SO i guess cell phone tapping is again limited to law enforcement.
